Recovery Begins With Understanding

“Addiction is not a choice or a moral failure. It’s a response to human suffering.”
— Gabor Maté

We believe addiction is not a choice or a moral failure, it is a response to human suffering. Through person-first, evidence-based care, we address the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of addiction in a home environment built on structure, connection, and compassion.

Nothing Is Shared

Your call, your name and your story stay between us, we will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information. No one needs to know you reached out.

Nurses on the Team

Registered practical nurses are part of daily care at the residences.

Physician Oversight

Addiction-medicine physician oversight informs every treatment plan — guided by pharmacogenetic testing, a DNA test included for every client.

72 Hours Sober Before Arrival

We’re not a detox facility. All we ask is that clients have at least 72 hours of sobriety before arriving, so from day one, you can focus fully on recovery.

Questions families ask

Answers, Before You Even Call

What does treatment cost?
Twelve Mile is a private facility. We don’t bill insurance directly, but we can provide receipts for reimbursement, and financing is available through Medicard (iFinance) so the cost can be spread over time. We’ll walk you through the details on your first call, so cost never has to be a barrier to getting help.
How long will I (or my loved one) stay?
Residential stays run six, nine or twelve weeks depending on what you need, followed by the six-week Reintegration program — same counsellor, included — and then lifetime aftercare. Your assessment sets the right length and starting point.
Is it confidential?
Completely. Your first consultation is fully confidential, and everything shared during intake is protected. No one needs to know you reached out.
What actually happens when I call?
It begins with a confidential pre-intake conversation to understand your situation and check fit and availability. No pressure, and nothing you need to have figured out first. In many cases treatment can begin within days, and same-day or rapid assessments may be possible depending on urgency, you can also text us any time for a fast response.
What if I need help for my mental health too?
Yes. We help with substance use and mental health together, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, mood disorders and stress-related conditions, through coordinated, trauma-informed care rather than in isolation.
What makes Twelve Mile different?
Two very different residences running the same program to one standard of care, the immersive Rodman Hall estate on the Twelve Mile Creek, and the intimate Lake Street home in downtown St. Catharines. Add a fully CARF-accredited program, founders and staff with real lived recovery, a world-class culinary team, and on-site access to nursing and medical care, then support that doesn’t stop at discharge, with virtual care and lifetime aftercare that keep your place in the community open.
Where are you located?
In St. Catharines, Ontario, alongside the Twelve Mile Creek, two residences, Rodman Hall and Lake Street (125 Lake Street). We serve individuals and families throughout Ontario and across Canada.
Do you offer Indigenous or culturally responsive care?
Yes. Indigenous clients are offered opportunities to incorporate culturally relevant supports, such as traditional healing practices, ceremonies, and other culturally grounded supports, into their individualized care, where available and desired. We work to remove barriers to access and collaborate with Indigenous service providers across Niagara. Learn more about Indigenous programming →
