Why the Same Prescription Works Differently in Different People
Two people, the same diagnosis, the same prescription — and two very different results. A major reason is written in their DNA. Genes such as CYP2D6 and CYP2C19 control how your body breaks down and responds to medication, and inherited variants can make a standard dose too weak, too strong, or ineffective altogether.
Pharmacogenetics (PGx) reads those genes once, from a simple cheek swab, and shows the result before a prescription is written. Published research suggests more than 90% of people carry at least one actionable gene variant affecting how they respond to a common medication — so this is not testing for an edge case. It is testing for the norm.
